Our 1500th Wish

“ Charlie's wish showed us how much love there is in the world! ”

- Wish Mom Kellie

  • Charlie , 14

    • Cerebral Palsy & Epilepsy
    • I wish to go on a Disney Cruise

If you could wish for anything, what would it be? That one question is an invitation to unleash limitless possibilities. To envision the impossible as possible. To dream.

When our chapter was founded back in 1986, we proudly began by granting one magical wish that year. Today we are celebrating an incredible milestone – the granting of our 1,500th wish for a New Hampshire child facing a critical illness.

As a result of surviving an in utero stroke, 14 year old Charlie has faced the many daily challenges of having both epilepsy and cerebral palsy his entire life. Though communicating can be quite the challenge due to developmental delays because of his conditions, Charlie knew exactly what he wanted and expressed his wish very firmly: he wanted to go on a cruise and more specifically, a Disney Cruise! Being able to meet his favorite characters, stare out into the beautiful ocean and feel the warmth of the sun were a few of the many things Charlie envisioned for his wish.

Charlie’s mom Kellie shared with us that watching her child have seizures his entire life has been incredibly trying. “You feel so helpless. But even in bad times, good things can happen. Charlie’s wish gave us a week of memories we will cherish as a family forever! His smile was infectious to all who passed by him on the cruise and for that we are forever grateful.”
